The CEED Centre has an active Board of Directors. Each director contributes a truly impressive amount of time and energy to our programs, fundraisers and governance. At our Annual General Meeting on October 15, we paid tribute to five directors who did not stand for re-election by the members. Janet Amsden was a director for 15 years, many of which she served as president. I appreciate her wisdom and people-oriented approach. I will miss her as a "go to" person, but will continue to enjoy her contributions as a member. Jolanta Ornowska volunteered with her family at the Celebrate Earth Day festival for three years before joining the Board and serving as Treasurer for four years. I will miss her keen insights, along with her tireless ability to source contributions to our silent auctions at fundraisers. Jack Emberly has been a director twice, this last time for five years. His abilities as a storyteller have enriched the Society and his unwavering focus on environmental issues has kept them front and center. Elaine Cormier served as a director for two years, bringing her deep abiding interest in people and their welfare to the table along with her gardening expertise. Russell Newcombe was a director for one year, helping immensely with our hosting of the Cheers to the Planet fundraiser. As the staff person here, I received countless hours of assistance from these outstanding individuals. I thank them deeply and feel honoured to have worked alongside them in the community.

Village Vancouver is a sister transition town to our own Golden Ears Transition Initiative here in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. If you don't mind the commute, here are some great events they have planned for October.
