Your support for our free, weekly Neighbourhood House programs and services helps us thrive. You can donate online, through the buttons above, or in person. We especially appreciate monthly contributions or planned giving and legacy programs (please talk to us to set it up). We target donations and fundraising for about one-third of our revenue to stay in touch with community and its needs. You can also contribute with in-kind donations and volunteering.
Curious as to how we use the funds? We employ one staff person to leverage dozens of volunteers running numerous programs and services. These programs connect people to their community, help them gain a sense of belonging and participate in activities that enhance all aspects of life--environmental, social and economic. For example, your $25 or $50 monthly donations support the Seniors Activity Group Eh! (SAGE) for persons with dementia and their caregivers. This group brings joy and humour into challenging lives, and we are proud of the smiles as participants greet each other and depart with a grin. It also contributes to the CEED Centre Art Group, where new, emerging and talented artists use art as therapy. On Wednesday mornings, the Community Discussions allow people to stay in touch with current events and connect, especially newcomers to the community. We know that money doesn't buy love, but it does help the community come together so that people feel supported and have a sense of belonging. We also provide computers, printers, Internet access and an Internet phone to people that can't afford these tools. To help the community at large, our staff and directors participate in numerous committees and community initiatives.
Special Funds
Heritage House Fund
The CEED Centre Neighbourhood House was first built as an ESL kindergarten by the Japanese Canadian pioneers in Maple Ridge in the 1920s. It has federally registered heritage status. You can target your donation to the upkeep of the building and its outbuildings by noting that we should direct the funds to the Heritage House Fund.
Teesha Sharma Homeless Youth Fund
Teesha Sharma was an amazing young woman who, despite much lived experience of abuse, never once lost sight of the good in people. During her short life, she helped dozens of youth directly through youth mental health programs she established at the CEED Centre and by telling her story and insights on better approaches to youth mental health locally and internationally. Her major life goal was to establish a youth safe house in her community so that all youth can be safe. She died at age 27 in the course of helping trafficked youth. We set up a memorial fund within the CEED Centre that is directed toward the future youth safe house. If you would like to contribute to this fund in particular, please note in your donation that we should direct it to the Teesha Sharma Homeless Youth Fund.

Planned Giving, Legacies and Customized donation Programs
If you would like to donate a portion of your estate to the CEED Centre so that it can continue its community development work even after you pass on, we would be delighted to create a customized plan that meets all of your objectives for giving.
Fundraiser: the Great Canoe Race + Picnic
We hope to again host the Great Canoe Race + Picnic at Whonnock Lake in the near future. We are currently looking for an event planner and assistants to join our events team. This is such a fun event, which allows each of to show off our quintessential Canadian skills in a canoe. Or if you are not keen on splashing about in small craft, you can stay on shore, enjoy a great picnic in Whonnock Lake park and cheer on the contestants. All event proceeds support our local community programs.

Contribute your Expertise
Are you a skilled professional or knowledgeable in new venture startups? We are looking for help to set up some social enterprises that are consistent with our mission and offer great opportunities to fund our activities. We are looking to start up a regional agrifood hub and a social enterprise farm as part of a larger complex that encompasses a farm school, young farmer plots and a community garden too. If this sparks your interest, please contact us. Our Velorganix youth eco-employment program ticks each box for social, economic and environmental development. We can use some help to market the program to businesses.
